3 music events in Toronto to check out this summer

There’s nothing better than live music on a bright summer day or warm summer night, and in the coming summer months, there will be plenty of musical festivities all over Toronto that you won’t want to miss. Here are our suggestions for 3 great music festivals and events in Toronto this summer:
 
North by Northeast Festival | June 16-25
 
North by Northeast (NXNE) has been called “Toronto’s leading music event”. Now in its 23rd year, the festival will be taking over the city from June 16th to 25th with shows, parties, showcases, and much more. This is a great opportunity to check out Toronto’s best live music venues. If you’re a nightlife enthusiast, check out the Club Land series that will take over the city’s best live music clubs with incredible emerging artists and parties that go all night long. Some headliners include Passion Pit, Tyler, the Creator, Post Malone, and many more. The festival is partnered with the iconic South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, so you know it’s going to be good! 
 
TD Toronto Jazz Festival | June 23-July 2
 
Since 1987, the TD Toronto Jazz Festival has made a name for itself as one of North America’s premier jazz festivals. This 10 day event features over 1500 musicians and attracts over 500,000 people every year. This year’s festival boasts performances by legends old and new such as Aretha Franklin, Mavis Staples, and Joss Stone, and many more. The festival takes place at 19 venues across the city, and is a great way to experience Toronto in the context of the best singers and musicians in jazz. 
 
TD Salsa in Toronto Festival | July 3-27
 
For great Latin music mixed with dance, drinks, and food, don’t miss the annual TD Salsa in Toronto Festival! This is one of the largest Latin festivals in Canada, spanning over 3 weeks with events all over mid-town Toronto. In addition to great Salsa music, you’ll get to check out dance performances and workshops, salsa cruise nights, and the 13th annual TD Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival on July 8th and 9th. This event in particular sees hundreds of thousands of attendees each year, attracting dancers, families, and everyone who loves Latino culture from around the country and all over the world.
