It's been a long and cold winter, but  Spring is finally on the horizon. Soon, we’ll all be enjoying the rich gifts that the warmer weather brings. In Toronto, the arrival spring means an increase in events and activities across the city. If you’re taking a trip from mid-March onwards, you’ll have a host of events waiting to be enjoyed, including the three we outline below, which include an art exhibition from one of modern art’s most intriguing artists, an event for pop culture fans, and the return of a very special film festival.

Ai Weiwei: Unbroken

From February 28 through to June 9, you’ll be able to visit the latest exhibition of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, whose work revolves around themes of social identity, justice, and political silence. The show will be presented at the Gardiner Museum.

For the comic fans

Love pop culture? Then you won’t want to miss Toronto Comiccon 2019, which will be taking place over three days from March 15 - 17. The event will be taking place at Metro Toronto Convention Centre, and will feature talks with famous stars, workshops, and opportunities to buy, and a Harry Potter Sorting Hat Ceremony, amongst other activities.

The outdoors on screen

The Banff Mountain Film Festival has justifiably established itself as the world’s leading outdoor movie festival, showing the best skiing, cycling, and other outdoor activity films from the past year. The show will be rolling into town in mid-March, with two screenings on March 14 and 16 -- don’t miss it.
