The holidays are just around the corner here in Toronto, and we couldn’t be more excited. Why? Because the city comes alive during the holiday season, full of lights, decorations, and of course, events. From a festive German-inspired Christmas market to an annual tree light ceremony and fireworks show, check out the top holiday events happening in Toronto this year.

The Distillery Winter Village

The Toronto Christmas Market is back with a new name in 2021. Going by The Distillery Winter Village, this year’s event promises to bring just as much holiday cheer as past events. Taking over the Distillery District starting November 18th, this festive winter village will feature local vendors selling everything from Christmas ornaments to delicious bites. The Distillery Winter Village’s 50-foot Christmas tree will also be set up for all to marvel at (with the tree lighting ceremony taking place on opening day, November 18th).

Toronto Santa Claus Parade 2021

Toronto’s annual Santa Claus Parade returns for 2021, but with one major change. Taking place on December 4th, the event is broadcast-only, meaning no in-person spectators this year. Broadcast live on CTV at 7:00 pm, viewers can expect to see larger-than-life floats, some of their favourite characters come to life, and live performances by some big artists.

Cavalcade of Lights Festival 2021

The City of Toronto is back hosting their Cavalcade of Lights Festival this year. After being cancelled last year due to the pandemic, this massive lights show returns to Nathan Phillips Square on November 21st. Attendees can expect to marvel at a spectacular fireworks show, hear live music, and participate in the annual tree lighting ceremony. This year, the tree in Nathan Phillips Square will be lit up with over 3,000 LED lights. The Cavalcade of Lights Festival will begin at dusk and last until 11:00 pm.

If you’re going to be in Toronto this holiday season, then we suggest attending any of the magical events above. And if you need a place to stay during your trip, you’re always welcome at the Super 5 Inn Toronto.
